Bora Kem is an American Cambodian with 10 years experience

working in the United States in investment management, private equity

and technology start-ups. He was born and raised in Phnom Penh.

Bora joined Mekong Strategic Partners in 2016 as investment manager.

Previously, Bora was a portfolio manager at Equilibrium Capital Group, a real asset (renewable energy, water, sustainable agriculture, and green real estate) management firm with over $1.5 Billion of capital on its investment platform. In his role, Bora focused on new investment strategy and fund development in real asset sectors where sustainability, operational expertise and impact produce alpha returns. In addition, he also focused on capital raising, structuring and investment activities for the firm’s multi-strategy vehicle.

Bora began his career as an investment associate in the Global Equity Research Group at Putnam Investments, a diversified investment management firm with $140 Billion of asset under management. At Putnam, he was an energy commodity strategist and led the firm’s equity coverage of Master Limited Partnerships (MLP’s) in the energy infrastructure space. He was actively involved in Putnam’s investment participation in various IPO’s and secondary offerings including: Williams Companies (NYSE: WMB) and Enterprise Products (NYSE: EPD). 


Bora was an investment consultant at Leopard Capital, a frontier market private equity firm, where he advised the firm’s portfolio companies on strategy, marketing, and operations. Bora has been actively involved in the technology industry as global venture developer for global e-commerce platform, Rocket Internet, and as a business development manager at Chicago-based technology incubator, Sandbox Industries. 

Bora has a B.A. in economics from Dartmouth College, an MBA in finance from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and an international management certificate from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)."
